- adapter_literotica: Don't setDescription() if tag is empty #1058
- adapter_literotica: Restore chapter descs description when nothing else. #1058

I've reimplemented description from chapters' descs for 'story series' that don't have an intro or short desc only.

On reflection, I decided I let my dislike for this site get away from me a bit there.
Thank you so much for putting it back.. this way both older and newer book series can have their summaries.

One thing I noticed is that when a newer series (like /series/se/california-dreamin) is downloaded it has both Status and Category tags while when an older series is downloaded (like /series/se/493604177) only the Status tag remains while the Category tag is gone.

Can this be fixed?

As you asked I looked through the threads for discussions on include_subject_tags, but I having issues understanding it. Currently my personal.ini looks like this

Code:

eroticatags_label:Erotica Tags
averrating_label:Average Rating
extra_titlepage_entries:eroticatags,averrating
extratags:
I tried to set include_subject_tags: to empty under lit section in my personal.ini but its throwing all kinds of error and not letting me save the file. I know I'm doing something wrong so would be thankful for any help.

I made a quick test with my personal.ini, nothing much for the lit site except I had to modify my titlepage_end a bit since there was one metadata that didn't exist for it and set include_subject_tags to empty. The 2 stories I tested with got downloaded without issues and had no tags on Calibre. Here's my personal.ini with some too specific lines removed for easier reading.

What was the error message when you tried to download the stories?

I tested with adding include_subject_tags:category under lit section in my personal.ini and this seemed to work as now only the story category is added in the tags column which is what I wanted. It now looks like this

Code:
[lit.com]
extra_valid_entries:eroticatags,averrating
eroticatags_label:Erotica Tags
averrating_label:Average Rating
extra_titlepage_entries:eroticatags,averrating
extratags:
include_subject_tags:category
And by errors I meant when I tried to save my personal.ini, there were several "Bad Section Name" errors regarding various sites although none of them concerned lit.com. I hit Save Anyway haven't got any issues so far.

Well, whatever settings are in the 'bad' sections aren't going to be applied correctly for one thing. I don't think they will be applied to the prior section...

Having 'several' suggests either you've done something significantly wrong, something is buggy, or you have sections for removed site(s).

I would need to see the section names in question to say more.

## website encoding(s) In theory, each website reports the character

## Use regular expressions to find and replace (or remove) metadata.
## For example, you could change Sci-Fi=>SF, remove *-Centered tags,
## etc.  See http://docs.python.org/library/re.html (look for re.sub)
## for regexp details.
##
## Make sure to keep at least one space at the start of each line and

## Three part effect only those key(s) lists.
## *Five* part lines. Effect only when trailing conditional key=>regexp matches

##
## Note that if metakey == conditionalkey the conditional is ignored.
## You can use \s in the replacement to add explicit spaces. (The config parser
## tends to discard trailing spaces.)
##
## replace_metadata <entry>_LIST options: FanFicFare replace_metadata lines
## operate on individual list items for list entries. But if you
## want to do a replacement on the joined string for the whole list,
## you can by using <entry>_LIST. Example, if you added
## calibre_author: calibre_author_LIST=>^(.{,100}).*$=>\1
##
## You can 'split' one list item into multiple list entries by using
## \, in the replacement string.
##
## Examples:
#replace_metadata:
# genre,category=>Sci-Fi=>SF
# Puella Magi Madoka Magica.*=>Madoka
# Comedy=>Humor
# Crossover: (.*)=>\1
# title=>(.*)Great(.*)=>\1Moderate\2
# .*-Centered=>
# characters=>Sam W\.=>Sam Witwicky&&category=>Transformers
# characters=>Sam W\.=>Sam Winchester&&category=>Supernatural
# category=>Bitextual=>M/M\,F/M

## Include/Exclude metadata
##
## You can use the include/exclude metadata features to either limit
## the values of particular metadata lists to specific values or to
## exclude specific values. Further, you can conditionally apply each
## line depending on other metadata, use exact strings or regular
## expressions(regex) to match values, and negate matches.
##
## The settings are:
## include_metadata_pre
## exclude_metadata_pre
## include_metadata_post
## exclude_metadata_post
##
## The form of each line is:
## metakey[,metakey]==exactvalue
## metakey[,metakey]=~regex
## metakey[,metakey]==exactvalue&&conditionalkey==exactcondvalue
## metakey[,metakey]=~regex&&conditionalkey==exactcondvalue
## metakey[,metakey]==exactvalue&&conditionalkey=~condregex
##
## This is fairly complicated, so it's documented on its own wiki
## page:
## https://github.com/JimmXinu/FanFicFa...etadataFeature

## When set true, conditionals for both replace_metadata and
## Include/Exclude metadata will check against each list value rather
## than the entire list as a string which was the case prior to this
## change (~Dec 2018).  replace_metadata conditionals (after &&) can
## also now use ==, !=, =~ and !~.  => is the same as =~ .)
## Set false to get the old behavior. You can also compare the list
## as string by using <entry>_LIST, such as category_LIST
conditionals_use_lists:true

## You can exclude chapters from a story by listing their chapter URLs
## in ignore_chapter_url_list. Chapter URLs will be normalized before
## being used, so you can use either longer or normalized chapter
## URLs.
## NOTE: This will cause numWords(word count) to be off for most sites.
## This setting should be used in a specific story's section.
## Example:
#[https://forums.spacebattles.com/thre...-name.100849/]
#ignore_chapter_url_list:
# https://forums.spacebattles.com/posts/10157294/
# https://forums.spacebattles.com/posts/10157297/
# https://forums.spacebattles.com/posts/10157299/
# https://forums.spacebattles.com/thre...#post-10157400

## Rarely, some stories on some sites (observed on SpaceBattles) might
## have the same chapter URL listed more than once. Set true for
## those stories.
#dedup_chapter_list:false

## Some readers don't show horizontal rule (<hr />) tags correctly.
## This replaces them all with a centered '* * *'. (Note centering
## doesn't work on some devices either.)

## Some sites/authors/stories use br tags instead of p tags for

## If you have the Generate Cover plugin installed, you can use the

That's not a valid story URL, it shouldn't be used as a [section] in personal.ini. Or else there's significant syntax mistakes.

That's defaults.ini, not your personal.ini. I suspect you pressed the 'View defaults.ini' button instead of 'View "Safe" personal.ini'.

Did you copy the entire defaults.ini then added your own stuff into it? You don't need to do that, just add the sections where you actually have modifications.

Okay.

I ran a diff and that's a copy of defaults.ini from several years ago. Which definitely still contains sections for sites that have gone away and been removed from FFF.

There's no good reason to have an entire copy of defaults.ini in your personal.ini and several good reasons not to.

So how do I go about about cleaning that up? Do I just leave the sections for sites that I'm using and remove the rest?
