Calibre 7.9.0 not running
Hi there,
Installed Calibre 7.9.0 today and now it won't launch. Never happened me before. Tried some solution suggestions from similar 'Calibre not running' threads, mostly for Calibre version 7+, but nothing works. - Renaming gui.json to gui.json.bak - Renaming config folder to calibre.bak - Repair installation Cautious about uninstalling, because although I know it won't affect my books and their settings, I'm worried about losing all the in-built settings, particularly plugins, Calibre content server & wireless/email settings, various behaviour settings, tweaks and custom menu settings. Don't feel comfortable downgrading. Ran "calibre-debug -g" and got this: ------------------------ C:\Users\userfolder>calibre-debug -g Python path configuration: PYTHONHOME = (not set) PYTHONPATH = (not set) program name = 'C:\Program Files\Calibre2\calibre-debug.exe' isolated = 1 environment = 0 user site = 0 safe_path = 1 import site = 1 is in build tree = 0 stdlib dir = '' sys._base_executable = 'C:\\Program Files\\Calibre2\\calibre-debug.exe' sys.base_prefix = 'C:\\Users\\userfolder' sys.base_exec_prefix = 'C:\\Users\\userfolder' sys.platlibdir = 'DLLs' sys.executable = 'C:\\Program Files\\Calibre2\\calibre-debug.exe' sys.prefix = 'C:\\Users\\userfolder' sys.exec_prefix = 'C:\\Users\\userfolder' sys.path = [ ] Fatal Python error: init_fs_encoding: failed to get the Python codec of the filesystem encoding Python runtime state: core initialized Traceback (most recent call last): File "<frozen importlib._bootstrap>", line 1176, in _find_and_load File "<frozen importlib._bootstrap>", line 1147, in _find_and_load_unlocked File "<frozen importlib._bootstrap>", line 690, in _load_unlocked File "bypy-importer.py", line 275, in exec_modle File "bypy-importer.py", line 63, in get_module_code ValueError: bad marshal data (unknown type code) Extension modules: bypy_frozen_importer (total: 1) ------------------------ Can anyone shed any light on what's happening help and suggest a remedy? Calibre's the best of course. It's only when it's gone you realise how much you miss it. Thanks. Last edited by Mob201503; 04-19-2024 at 07:22 PM. |

Uninstall, delete C:\\Program Files\\Calibre2
(or wherever you chose to install calibre). Then re-install. And dont worry, uninstalling will not affect your books/settings/plugins. |
