I would suggest you not leave the reader sitting on the dash in the direct sun. That's something I'd never do with any electronics. Put it in a glove box or even behind you on the floor to keep it out of the direct sun.
It's not a Kobo issue. My 650 gets sluggish in the heat. I think its an eInk screen issue.
